    Wiring a 115 V motor question...

My schematic for my motor isn't quite what I was expecting... I need a little help getting this wired up...

I am trying to wire a HF #67481 1.5HP motor for 115V Clockwise operation.

I see L1, and L2 along with a blank that group certain wires.

I am assuming L1 is line, L2 is load and the blank is what, ground? Or are these wires just nutted together and left alone or what's the story?

I will be wiring this to an MLCS #9072 Safety "Motor" Power Switch.

I will be cannibalizing #8488 10 Ft. 12 AWG Outdoor Extension Cord for the wiring between motor and switch, as well as switch to outlet. Possibly maybe a #41449 to get a longer cable and less obnoxious coloration of the cord... Mainly aiming for a heavy 12ga or better cord...

L1 will be the hot side. L2 is the neutral side. You will also want a ground which is usually a green screw somewhere inside the junction box.
That is typical. As for the wire bunch, some of those may need to be swapped with the neutral if it is a reversible motor. There is generally a schematic either on the motor data plate or under the lid of the junction box.

Yes, the motor is reversible. The schematic shows L1 with one wire, L2 with a group of wires all connected, and then another group of wires that are connected (visually in the diagram at least) with no indicator of what circuit they are...

      So L1= Hot.
      L2 = Neutral
Green stud in the wiring cover is ground (got that one)...

IF the diagram is right, and I am reading it correctly the other wires are simply nutted together.

The manual for all the Smith + Jones motors is here.

I am working with SKU #67841 and the diagrams are on the top of page 4.

So if I am following this right and my brain isn't too rusty...

L1 which is marked wire P1, nuts to the black wire coming from the extension cord. (Black is the hot one right?)

L2 which is wires T2, T4, and T8 nut to the white wire coming from the extension cord as if I recall correctly, white should be neutral.

The other wires, P2, T3, and T5 nut together without any connection to the extension cable.

The green, or bare copper wire to the ground lug.

L1 is usually the hot wire or load, but I have seen it reversed. It only really matters when you are switching the motor. You want to switch the hot side.

Those wire bunches are how it is reversed. You need the color codes to tell you which to swap with which wires on L2.

Make sure T8 is on L2 and T5 is tied into the lone bundle.
