    http://newyork.craigslist.org/wch/tls/3003334417.html

i have no experience with these commercial saws, but i have seen some of them with pretty hefty price tags. any thoughts on how this one is priced?

Probably a good price, if you have 3 phase power.

Comparatively, I guess I would just have to say "maybe".

But they say the blade elevation is broken and that they have to use "shim's". Does that speak of poor maintenance? Also, if they can't fix it, you probably can't either... or else it's not "affordable" to fix; but either way, I don't think I'd like to have to depend on "shims".

Lastly (and of course, all this is just my perspective), this appears to be a rather sizeable saw, at a comparatively sizeable price, and with a definite electrical "phase" challenge for most home shops. Why would you want to "go there", unless you are a collector of such things?

Personally, if I had that kind of money for a used, broken saw, I'd probably budget/save a bit more and look at the big saws that are popular in today's woodworking market.

      Just an opinion,

i wasn't looking to buy the subject saw. it's way to big for my humble needs. i was just curious as to whether a saw of this nature at the asking price was, assuming proper operating condition, relatively fairly, or under, priced.

From the condition I can see in the photos, this machine looks very poorly maintained. IMHO it would be overpriced at $500.00
