    BS opinion requested

i have a lead on a 14" delta X5 Cat. No. 28-475X Bandsaw. 1.5hp, quick release blade tension lever. 4" dust port. serial number dates it to 2007. seems to be in very good shape. $200-225. i don;t do much bandsaw work so this would be a non-esential tool. opinions appreciated re: price/value.

If it did retail for $1000 when new then IMO it was way over priced at that time. I would say that the $200-$225 price is a very good price depending on its condition of course. Still, even if you have to put some money into it, as long as it's not too much, I would seriously consider snapping it up before someone else does.

I think you will be surprised at how much more BS work you will do once you have a nice BS like that one. I went from a POS Delta 9" BS to a Craftsman 10" (Rikon clone) and I couldn't believe the difference and how much I REALLY wanted to use it--and that's only a 10" BS...

What JoeyGee said and then some. A BS is a great addition to a wood shop. You'll wonder why you went so long without one.

Unless it is beat up pretty badly, $225 is a steal! ...a no brainer if you're in the market for a quality BS. In fact the saw may still be under warranty. If I'm not mistaken Delta X5 machines were covered for 5 years.
