    New router at HF

HF has a new router. It looks like a Porter Cable 690 copy, but is only $50. I am sure it is no PC, but for the price it does not look bad if you need another small router.

Wonder if the PC 690 motor will fit it? My 690 has the old housing with a thumbscrew instead of a lever and it is very hard to turn the thumbscrew to make it tight. Also, my 690 did not come with an edge guide or 3/8" collet. If all these HF parts work with the 690, it might be worth the price for these parts alone.

phrog, replace that thumbscrew bolt with a proper length ¼" hex bolt and one of these. I did that years ago with my, at that time, table mounted 690 and it worked like a charm. Rockler also sell similar cam levers.

That sure does look like a 690, and 11 amps. Price sounds good. It would be interesting if some parts are interchangeable. Maybe there will be a plunge base available.

I did the same thing but I got the lever from somewhere else that I can't remember. Works well and I really like it.

If that is halfway decent, and you could use a 20% coupon, it would be a really good deal. I missed it, but are these in stores?

Thanks Dave and Hank. Didn't know there was such an animal available. Sure would make adjustments easier.

Shouldn't be any worse than the other HF routers, and might just be an improvement!
