    My New Toy Arrived Today

My new Nova DVR XP was delivered this morning and now resides on my turning bench. I haven't turned anything on it yet but did fire it up and ran it through the speeds, very smooth and quiet. A real piece of machinery.

Cool, congrats on the new toy.

Luckily, I have been able to resist the urge to get a lathe. I don't have the time, but the biggest problem would be the cost. Considering my penchant for planes and chisels, acquiring all the turning tools "I just got to have" would probably drive me into bankruptcy.

No doubt a fantastic lathe. Enjoy it... I'll stick with my cheapie HF lathe for a while.... It has done me right so far... Not to mention my wallet, and my wife would have a fit if I bought one of those...

Congratulations! I got the same one a while back, of course just about the time life got really busy :-( I hope you will get to enjoy it much more than I have so far!

BTW I saw this neat accessory for it on the AAW symposium trade show:

Very nice Dick. I'm thinking there's some very large pens or other turnings in mind for that. Make sure to post all the finished work for us to see!

Me too. A lathe is really the only major piece missing from my shop. I keep considering dipping my toe in by buying a mini/midi, but worry I will quickly acquire at least $500 in turning tools. Plus, the learning curve.

                I am jealous, nonetheless.
