Where to get levelers with long threaded rod?

Where would you find a leveler that's similar to the ones on the HF mobile base?

I'm looking for a leveler with a swivel or ball/socket base (so the base can remain still while the rod rotates) for a mobile base. However, I'm looking for the threaded rod to be about 6in or so.

Most of the levelers i've found have a 3" threaded rod.

I'm playing with the idea of a mobile base with 4in non-locking swivel casters but have enough travel in the levelers so they don't interfere with going over a threshold or something. I'm figuring I want to be able to raise the base of the leveler up past the axle on the caster.

I've seen the leveler used on the UTS: http://christophermerrill.net/ww/pla...l_Stand_6.html

However, I'm not sure how to attach a foot with a ball/socket base.

I don't know if it will pan out, but wanted to explore the idea.

    thanks,
    Andy

I've looked at my usual sources for that kind of stuff and anything with a 6" rod is $30+. how much would you like to spend?

How about a leveler without a stud and loc-tite a threaded rod of the desired length?

Have any wooden circles cut out of anything? Insert a t nut and use a piece of all thread.

          $30+ is definitely steep.

I like the idea of attaching a longer rod to an existing leveler. Haven't sorted out how to accomodate the connector.

Here's a crude illustration of what I have in mind. They'd be flipped down and then lower the leveler feet with a handle. When you don't need them, raise the leveler a little bit and flip them out of the way. The casters would still carry some of the load. The leveler feet are to keep it from moving around.

          Thanks!

I thought about that, but wasnt sure what kind of stress I'd put on the joint between the wooden circle and the all thread since the bottom face of the wood circle would be on the floor trying to rotate with the rod when it's lowered.

I'm probably over thinking this too much.

Those would work nicely. I'm looking for 4, but I'd be happy with two.
