    Jet Warranty

Last fall/winter Woodcraft had a Jet sale. I bought a combo jointer/planer. I finally got my old jointer and planer out and am putting this new one together.

I don't see any kind of Warranty card anywhere in the packaging. Is it on line or mentioned in the manual and I'm missing it?

Is there a stated policy? Is it right in front of my face and I'm missing it?

    Thanks for any suggestions!

The basis for most consumer warranty in the US for many, many years now is the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act aimed at companies providing goods which among other things states:

You do not require consumers to perform any duty as a precondition for receiving service, except notifying you that service is needed, unless you can demonstrate that the duty is reasonable.

In terms of this virtually all products that state a full or limited warranty for a period X do not require you to send in a card initiating the warranty. You do have to retain your receipt or other proof of purchase date which starts the effective date. Many manufactured items are marked with a serial or date code indicating when it was made which can help you get warranty service if say it was manufactured 1 year ago but has a 2-year warranty then it most certainly must be under warranty.

The so-called "warranty cards" that are included with most goods, if you look at it carefully, often states you do not have to return the card to receive warranty protection and that the card will be for their marketing information and possibly for recalls if necessary. Most of the card is filled with a marketing questionaire like where do you live and whats your age and how much do you make questions of a marketing nature that has nothing to do with warranties.

Then why does everyone freak about about registering your rigid tools for the lifetime warranty?

As has been previously stated here on many occasions, RIDGID does not have or offer a lifetime warranty on the TTI manufactured tools. There is a Limited Lifetime Service Agreement program that they do offer for those TTI manufactured tools which is above and beyond their standard 3 Year Warranty against manufacturing defects. In order to receive the benefits of the Limited Lifetime Service Agreement, you must register your tool purchaes into the program.

aahhhh..the usual jet (WMH tool group) non-response. delivered with courtesy and sincerity, but, like their technical support, pretty much useless.
there's a solution to every problem.......you just have to be willing to find it.
