    Grizzly Small Cyclone

Just noticed the 1.5 Grizzly Cyclone ($850) - looked pretty portable by DC standards and I've always wanted a cyclone for a small shop where I will have some duct lines plumbed and will also probably want to do stand alone single unit (machine) hook ups.

Anyone had any experience with that item?

Almost bought a HF 2 hp unit yesterday, based on the theory that it is so cheap even with a filter retrofit, but it is also so poorly constructed that it turns me off - plus I've always wanted a cyclone for my new shop.

Comments on the Grizzly and also suggestions for alternatives in the small cyclone category?

Here's another Griz on wheels http://www.grizzly.com/products/1-1-...-Series/G0703P

Or is that the one you're talking about?

I like the Oneida company http://www.oneida-air.com/smart_new.php
I don't have the portable but they were great to deal with and still make stuff in the USA if that matters to you. It looks to compare well with the Grizzly on filtration and CFM though it would cost a bit more being made here.

That's a brand new and improved version of the one I saw - look' even better and a tad cheaper.

Not sure how you mean poorly constructed. I have the HF 2 HP DC, and it is very functional for my shop. Much rather have this than say a Delta 50-720, or the Jet DC650 or other small 1HP machine... The only construction issue I have with mine is the seam where the two halves of the impeller housing come together isn't factory sealed. No biggie, a quick thin bead of clear silicone caulk fixed that...

Yes a cyclone would be great. I wouldn't bother with the Grizzly small cyclones... If you are going to spend the extra scratch to get a true cyclone instead of say a HF DC / Thien cyclone rig, I would keep saving my pennies and buy an Oneida, or JDS...

Both my son and I have the 2 HP HF and, with the exception of a tricky-sensitive on-off switch on mine, which I will bypass when I have time, no surprises ...

I looked at them but ended up going with Oneida. It's a personal thing but I liked the idea that Oneida was a stable company, would be there when I needed them and they gave me great customer service.
