Porter Cable 892 vs Hitachi M12VC

From the post below, the Hitachi M12VC is going for $89, ( thanks for the heads-up dewi1219!), does anyone have any opinions comparing the 2 routers? I'm going to be using it on the BT3100 with the router plate.

Can't speak about the P/C 892 but I can give ++'s for the Hitachi especially at that price. I've had mine in a router table for the past at least 10 years, other than replacing the speed control once its given me excellent service. It can hog through just about anything. By taking the springs out when mounted in a table it just fills the bill in every way. Plus the green almost matches my Grizz stuff!

It's always going to be a matter of preference and the task at hand, but I liked my M12VC better than my PC690...never used the PC892. I also liked it better than my Bosch 1617. The M12VC is the lightest and quietest of any of the full size routers I've used.

My apologies - I don't mean to hijeck the thread, but does the Hitachi M12VC use PC style baseplates and bushings?

Yes it does. It can actually use a LOT of PC style accessories, including the edge guide...

I own 2 of the Hitachi's in the KM12VC configuration which has a plunge base as well as the fixed base. I am awfully tempted to pick up an M12VC just for using in the router table. These things are, as far as routers are concerned, as smooth and quiet as they get. The best way I can put this is, use a BT3100, which is a fine saw, but then use a brand new 5HP Unisaw... Same sort of difference in noise and smoothness. The end result is the same, just getting there is a bit different...

Folks on SlickDeals have been talking about the 10 off 50 'bounceback' coupon on the Lowe's receipt(over the weekend, at least). I got the 10 off 50 email yesterday(from Lowe's). Been hauling around a couple of 10% coups for weeks. Guess it's time to go save some money!

BTW, very limited availability in the Austin area. Check your local inventory if you're not going to have it shipped. Just a thought.

                      Some additional help, please

Now that LOML did not make me return the Hitachi M12VC after she saw the credit card statement, I'd like to mount the router in the accessory plate that came with the BT3100 kit. Does anyone know where I can get a diagram of the mounting hole pattern/dimensions for the router?, my thinking is that I could use those dimensions to accurately locate the holes and drill the aluminum plate. Thanks.
