I actually found the instructions fairly well done. They are the ones on their website, check to see if they redid them. The only problem I had was seeing detail in their pictures, but on the website I can make them out fine.

The hardest part about the whole thing doing it myself was mounting the motor. I hope I don't have to take it back off again for whatever reason. I may add a link belt at some point.

Here's an unboxing thread I made for it: http://familywoodworking.org/forums/...ad.php?t=22201

Some initial thoughts after having it a few days and doing a little bit of cutting.

Not very happy with the way the motor is mounted right now, it's a little bit off kilter. I may be taking the saw off to fine tune that, if at all possible. Or I may use the scissor jack from my car.

The thing comes with a tire brush. I couldn't believe it. I'm not glad I forgot to buy one before hand.

A bit disappointed with how the lower wheel door doesn't close all the way, it will probably impact dust collection. May have to figure that one out.

Speaking of dust collection, there is none without a DC. I guess I was half expecting the dust to come shooting out of the port.

I finally picked up some mineral spirits to clean the top last night, so I should be able to get the top cleaned and squared up this weekend. The miter slot and bar are either mismarked, or at worst completely not aligned to the blade.

I would be interested in seeing a close up of that lower door where it meets the body. Chances are it's about the same as the Delta, and Ridgid models I have seen, they all stand the door off of the frame a hair. I have no idea why they do that. The dust collection port on all of these 14" saws I have been around, except for the Grizzly, STINKS, and the Grizzly isn't all that good. Take a look at mine and you will see I adapted a 4" port to the lower wheel guard, between that, a tire brush, and an upper guide port dust collection is actually quite good.

How long does mineral spirits take to flash off? I was thinking about getting out there after work and cleaning the table, but didn't know when I could put the wax on.

No clue. I used rubbing alcohol...

A very small amount applied to a rag took care of the cosmoline. I took a separate rag and buffed dry, then applied my wax and buffed again. I don't know if that was right, but I think it will be okay.

I'm a bit worried about keeping the mineral spirits in the shop though.

I've gotten much more vibration recently, and it's a lot louder. I'm pretty sure it's due to how the motor is mounted. I'm hoping to fix that this weekend.

Anything 'unusual' I can do to cut down the vibration? Rubber gaskets, plywood, etc?

I'm going to get a link belt for it while I'm at it. Might be getting the HF version.

Not sure about yours, but I cut the vibration (of which there was very little) down even further with the link belt (You will need 2 of them if this is a dual pulley system like mine, 1 just isn't enough material). Make CERTAIN that your motor and all the bolts etc.. are tight. And insure that the feet / levelers are solidly even with no wiggle to the saw. You might want to take the blade off, and verify that the wheels move freely etc...

I do need to fix the leveling. Perhaps it sitting on a small sheet of nice ply would help fix that. Part of what I think is the issue is the motor is slightly cockeyed. I should have installed the motor before I put the saw body on.

There is a pulley on the motor, and a pulley on the saw with what looks like about a 2-foot section of V-belt. The HF link belt is a 5-foot length, I know it would be plenty. If that's the kind I need.

I'd use the remainder on the 21829, but what I read here says not to.

Different kind of belt for sure. The BT / 21829 uses a short, almost serpentine looking kind of belt, whereas most traditional saws including the band saws in question use a vee type belt.... The link belt replaces vee belts...

I did mine with the link belt, and the big belt took 4' of it, I didn't have enough to do the smaller one with just one belt... YMMV.

I wasn't even thinking about the other belt, you're right. I don't think I'd replace that one just yet, just the one that the motor drives.

I stopped by, and luckily my HF carries them in-store. Forgot my coupon, so I'll be hitting them up again today or tomorrow.

Do you know if any pre-made zero clearance inserts fit? Rockler has a special for Jet or Delta inserts and a duplicator pin for $11.

I tightened up one bolt, put poly washers on the motor mounts (also straightened out the motor in relation to everything else), made sure it was rock-solid level, and put the link belt on. Pure hums now.

I did have a problem with zero clearance inserts, have to do some work to get them to fit.
