    Lousy Bessey Clamps....

So I am in the process of building up my tool collection to start on bigger projects than just the wood lures I am currently building.

I find this 15 piece Bessey clamp kit.

Two 18 inch bar clamps, two 12 inchers, two 6 inch C clamps, four 2 inchers, and the rest are spring clamps. I didnt really see the clamps, since they were in a sealed box.

Getting home, I opened the box and found the bar clamps to be of less quality that the last Bessey bar clamp that I had bought. They work, but the clamping end is loose until pressure is applied with the screw. No locking lever. Quite unwieldy. The C clamps are top notch. The springs, one 3 inch one broke when I tried using it to hold my dust hose

For the price I think I am ahead with just the C clamps and a couple of bar clamps. I only owned one bar and two C clamps before this. To those who have these, or handled them, are these keepers just to get the clamp numbers up? Is there a place in these world for also ran clamps?

i have a bunch of those Bessey "F" clampos in 4" size, I use them for tool jigs, fence clamps and stff. I find the sliding jaw OK, different than the ones with the lever - sometimes it just gets away from you but sometimes handy because they adjust so quickly and with fewer hands. I suspect it has to do with gravity direction. When you dislike them its because they are sliding away open faster than you can tighten the screw to clamp it.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.
