    HF Drill Press 43378

I am looking at purchasing the 43389-4VGA. Currently it is listed at $299. I know everything goes on sale at HF, you just have to wait. What have people seen this drill press go for on sale? I am patient if needed. I do have a 20% off coupon though, should I just go with that? Thanks and any information you can provide is helpful.

I watched for quite a while, but with a low price and a coupon (30%?) I got that one several years ago for about $155. I have kept my eyes open, but haven't seen it nearly that low since. It is definitely worth more. It has performed well, and I don't understand why the website still lists the spindle stroke incorrectly as 2 3/4". It is actually about 3 1/4" or a bit more.

This was probably not terribly relevant because it was some time ago. I think with a 20% coupon it is a fine deal now. It is a lot heftier than the 43378 mentioned in your subject line, but many are happy with that one too.

Ah silly me. I need to change my subject line. I was looking at both of them, but think the 43389 would probably be a little more future proof. Thanks.

Thanks for pointing this out. Do you have any more information on these such as swing or spindle stroke, or how good they seem to be? I was unable to find any more information on the web...

I have the HF #43389 drill press. I like the DP and tell myself everytime I use it. I paid $179 on sale in 2002. Haven't seen that price in a long time.

I have one of those, although they have stuck another brand name on it since I got mine. But it's the same press, and I would not recommend it.

It rattles a lot, the tensioner for the belts doesn't work well, and the chuck is pretty low quality. When the quill is extended more than an inch you can move it side to side about 1/32" in any direction.

Looks the review by Pecker means the build quality isn't there on the Tractor Supply model. The Harbor Freight with the 20% coupon is probably the way to go for a drill press. Good luck with your purchase. The nice thing about HF is their return policy, that is a definite plus.

I,d look around at your local Lowes or Home Depot as they are clearancing out the Ridgid DP1550 at Home Depot and the 17-950L at Lowes, better machines than any of the above mentioned IMO.
