    Porter Cable SURVEY

i got an interesting email today.
porter cable taking a tool survey.
So they asked me some general wwing questions then went into details about a possible CNC 3-D wood-working router with a 6'x6' or larger working area and costing $6000 to $8000.

Needless to say as a hobbyist i indicated that might be a little rich for my blood. But i'd love to have one.

So anyone else get this? (probably have to be a member of the Delta-PC site)

See if they'll send you one for an evaluation/online review...

I got a survey last month regarding opinions on a shop vacuum cleaner.

I did. Would like to have one, I think I could even find a place for it in the shop but not in the tool budget.

a 6'x6' or 6'x8' capacity bed they were proposing might be hard to find space....
OTOH, you could use it to cut down 4x8 sheet plywood without a table saw, circular saw or panel saw. If it replaced table saw and router and bandsaw maybe even planer and jointer... we might get down to one machine in a shop.

I don't recall the company, but there was one with a laser engraving machine at the last ww show I went to.
They had a 'small' and a 'large' priced at $8500 and $15,000.

He had sample business cards that he had engraved, they were really crisp and sharp, even with something that approached 6 point type. A really good look and a fine toy to own, if your name happens to be Donald Trump.

That was probably Epilog. They have been at a couple of WW shows I've attended, and my local Woodcraft has a big one of theirs.

That might cut down on the "accidents" except for ones like a chisel into the hand, or a screwdriver in the eye.

A guy at my office has one. He used it to help engrave the lettering on this present for my nephew. They are pretty nice.

I expect that if it replaced LOML's car in the garage I could expect an accident like that.
