I just got back from HF and the clerk there told me that HF will no longer be issuing discount coupons as we now know them. He didn't know exactly when this is going to happen but he assured me that it was. In order to receive coupons in the future you must be a member of a program they call the Inside Track Club. Of course there is a charge for membership and I believe he told me it was $29 a year but I could be wrong about the amount. The brochure he gave me was very general when it came to describing the actual benefits of being a member but hopefully something more detailed will be forth coming. Actually, I think if they don't get huge amounts of people signing up for this I doubt if it will fly.

My HF has been handing out apps for the Inside Track Club for a couple of months now. Of course, it says nothing about any charges for membership on the application, or on the in-store display. I guess this is something we're supposed to find out "the hard way"...
Anyway, when the program actually begins, I will be telling the manager, and those at corporate, that I will be boycotting them until membership is free or the program is shitcanned. If more people do the same, perhaps we can dispense with this nonsense in short order.
I refuse to pay for a privilege that has been free, when I know they already got the extra margins worked into their current pricing.

With their increased advertising in magazines and in home delivery ads containing coupons, success with that program will not likely be discontinued. They even urge a recipient to continually upgrade their email address for mailings.

I signed up for the Inside Track Club maybe 10 years ago! I think there was something like a $5.00 a year fee. I paid one year, have never paid since, but all my mail from them still says inside track member'!

The program has been around for awhile in the catalog division of HF. IIRC, those who belonged to it are given special deals and discounts that non-members are not privy too. According to the guy I talked to, this will also now be the case with the retail stores and members will get deals and coupons that the general public will not see._________________________

Just last week when at Harbor Freight the cashier was promoting their $29 fee for Inside Reack membership. She said members could get to come early for clearance sales and sidewalk sales. Additionally, you could get discount coupons for members only. Their stuff is very frequently on sale anyhoo, just like the car dealers who advertise every week for their biggest sale of the year.

On another forum, I had read about a member who joined the forum, to get a good deal on one of the red toolboxes. They said it was whatever the club is called, sale, and then let him use a 20% off coupon as well. Well, later, someone responded, they got the flier for the club, and the "sale" was really a coupon, so they shouldn't have been able to stack. (according to the official policy)
ALSO, there IS a 20% off coupon in the March issue of Wood magazine I just received. Hopefully that will help someone looking.She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.Comment
