I am not sure about that. I have a pair of 36" Jorgensons I have had for about 10 years now. They are stamped Taiwan on the side of the head. They may have moved production back to the U.S. since then though. A few companies did when fuel prices go so high about 3 years ago (right before the economy went into the toilet,) I am not sure how many moved back to offshore production.

Not sure about the tape measure, but my Fat Max chisel set was U.S.A. made. Yes they cost more than the HF chisel set, but the difference in quality was pretty obvious.

The Jorg/pony comment was just based on a lot of "made in USA" statements on Amazon and other ordering pages. Traditional woodworker has this statement on this page:

We have chosen to carry quality clamps made under the brand names of Jorgensen and Pony as most of their clamps are still proudly made in the USA.

So perhaps not ALL of the clamps are made in the USA. Or perhaps, as you stated, some/all of the production has moved back to the US.

One thing to note about the Fatmax chisels is that current Stanley chisels/planes seem to be made in either china, mexico "from worldwide components" (meaning blades from the US or england probably), or England. Oddly, the Fatmax chisels that come in a set are from China while the exact same chisels bought individually are from England. Check for yourself next time you are at lowes killing time. It's weird.

While not a 3hp cabinet saw, the dewalt DW746x may be (or have been at one point) made in the USA. A guy on Amazon's review page for the product claims that his was made in the USA:

I have heard that some (all?) of dewalts stuff was made over here at one point. However, if you had asked me before I started looking into it, I would have assumed they were all offshore at this point.

Also, did the new Delta Unisaw end up being made in the USA or not? I know that was the hype at one point. But you never know if hype actually turns out to be legit.

The new Unisaw is assembled in the USA of US and foreign parts. As far as I can tell from various sites, the marathon motor, cast iron tables and blade are the US components.

Very recently, Powermatic tools were made in McMinnville, TN. I'm not sure if they still are made there but the price was just out of Bill Gates range. Also, most Porter Cable equipment was made in Jackson, TN but since the BD acquisition a couple years ago, I'm not sure. I saw a program about power tools last year which showed Skil drills being made in MS. Maybe they have all gone EAST now - not sure.

Given the marketing direction that the parent company is going with PC, I don't see much chance of it being "made in USA" any more, if it ever was. PC is being turned into a Ryobi type brand. Check out the new PC stuff at Lowes. I'm not saying that it's bad, I'm just saying that it isn't the premium brand that it once was. Lower prices require lower production prices, and that usually means offshore manuf.

It was, indeed, made here until recently but could find no mention if it is still made here.

My Porter Cable 690LR routers says "assembled in Mexico." But it is still an awesome router. I have the bottom of the line skilsaw and it says right on the label "made in USA." My old Craftsman router was also made in USA

My 690 says "made in USA" but is pre-LR version. About 8 years old. My PC Router Table says "Made in Taiwan." Go figure.
