Cleaning Delta 1 micron filter bag

What is the best way to clean the filter bag (a04496 for the 50-760). Previously I took it outside, flip the inside out and vaacum. That turned out OK, but I'm wondering if it's washable.
A new one cost $80 so I'll be keeping this one for a long time. The plastic bag cost $18. Wow!

    Howie,
I have the same DC and yes the plastic bags are stupidly expensive. I bought some contractor trash bags form Lowe's (I think) for something like $8-10 for 25 or so. Anyway, they are heavy gage plastic. When I remove my lower bag, I set it on the floor and slide one of the contractor bags down over the top of the bag of dust then turn the whole thing upside down and slowly pull the Delta bag out. I know, it sounds messy, but it really isn't if you remove the clear bag slowly.
As for the filter bag, I haven't cleaned it yet and am waiting for a nano-fiber filter from Wynn Environmental to arrive. The nano filter is just short of HEPA filtration so it should help a lot.

Don't take my word for it, look it up. I am pretty sure though when browsing through the owners guide on one of those I saw that they said the are machine washable on cold, air dry...

LOOK IT UP TO BE SURE!

I don't want to be responsible for ruining your bag by my bad memory...

Or better yet, throw a Wynn spun bond 35A on there and be sure you can wash it...

Great minds think alike. I also have the 50-760 and do exactly the same thing. The dust tends to be so compacted that hardly any escapes.

I did this only last weekend and its certainly cheaper than paying $18 for a plastic bag. I wonder how many they sell?

As for cleaning the filter I just tend to give it a good shake from time to time and a general clean with my shop vac when I empty it. I had always thought that these filters required some dust build up as part of their functionality.

i to have the same dust collector and do what other have already suggested. get the garabage bags from HD or any other place, place it over and turn it upside down. works fine. you can even wear a dust mask while doing that.
