    Miter slot repair question...

I am 1/2 done building my new cross cut sled for my PM2000, but I've run into an issue. It seams that my miter slots are not a consistent width from front to back. This could be from wear on the part over 2 years of using a cross cut sled with steel runners, but it seams to me like it shouldn't have worn that quickly.

My question is do I repair this? And how? Incra suggests filing the slot, but that seems like it's be nearly impossible to get correct without making some form of jig or other to ensure an even width.

I suppose I can call Powermatic, as this saw is only a few years old, and is under warranty still. I'm unsure if this will be a "wear part" or something they'll handle.

Any suggestions or advice? Anyone deal with this problem before?

I'd try calling powermatic. From what I understand their customer support is supposed to be stellar.

I don't own a powermatic, I just drool over the thought of having one.

My PM2000 has a *very* slight tightness around the middle of the left-hand slot, just enough that you can feel when pushing a carefully-adjusted miter bar through it. There's not anything that I'd regard as a genuinely inconsistent width, though. I think I'd report it and see what they say.

Erik is right about PM's customer service. As you'll recall I had a problem with the magnetic switch on my saw and they made it good right away. I still have the rep's name and email addy somewhere; check your PMs a little later in the day.
