HF Four Inch Jointer Planer

I have an older Delta 9" table saw I bought used in 1963. It is a very good table saw. It originally came with a four inch jointer mounted on the same stand. I think the set was called a cabinet makers tool.
Although I wouldn't use the jointer much, I have always wanted one just to plane the edge of boards, maybe sometimes for gluing.
I can get the Harbor Freight 4" jointer delivered for about $130.
Anybody have any experience with it?

I have plenty of tools from HF, and have looked at both the 4" and 6" benchtop models. They are something to avoid...

For a little bit more than the HF, you can get a Geetech made Sunhill SM-150B, which is the jointer I have (6") which goes for $159.00 + S&H.

The 4" SM-100 goes for $129.00 + S&H...

Too bad you missed the sale that they had on the SM-150B for $99.00, I slid in on the very last day / tail end of that deal... I am VERY happy with my jointer. I must admit though... It is, like every other benchtop jointer, LOUD...

That extra 2" doesn't sound like much, but it DOES come in handy from time to time...

I agree with DB. Unless you are VERY tight on space a 6" would serve you better. the 6" benchtop versions (Delta, Sears, Sunhill) which arent much larger than that 4" regularly appear on CL for around the $100 mark
