    Novel Concept

    http://www.power8workshop.net/index.htm

    Interesting concept.

There is a whole list of possible reasons why it may not work well but if this was offered by Ryobi it would certainly pull me into Home Depot.

Interesting that the payment total is a buck cheaper than the listed price. Hope the did a better job with the math on the design.

Ya gotta wonder if that design/color scheme was meant to look like the Festool systainer system? I don't think anyone is going to confuse it with anything remotely like Festool.

Not a bad idea for someone in the hanyman business who might need this to complete certain tasks.

Interesting in the way it was designed. It might have a place for someone who works at different job sites, but I don't think it would do well for long sessions. Obviously it lacks a lot of things we're used to, and that includes safety concerns.

If you order within the next 30 minutes, do you get two of them for the price of one?

Seriously, for a lot of homeowners with very light and very occasional needs, that might not be a bad package. Or maybe for model builders ... I'd have loved to have something like that when I was a kid (Ed's safety concerns notwithstanding).

I like this thing! It could really present some options for a handyman. I mean, it's one thing to have a combination kit including a circ. saw, jig saw, and drill. But to have table saw, drill press, and "scroll saw" as well - that's pretty cool! (Did anyone ever use the BT accy table with jig saw mounted? How entertaining was that?!)

One thing I noticed, though, is that the circ. saw does not have sufficient depth for a 2-by. That's not good. It's also not clear if the package includes a second battery, although there is a second charging port.

Definitely not a Festool, but pretty cool, IMHO.

Trying to replace real tool with cordless is like sending a boy to do man's job. Cordless drill does not replace a drill press, cordless saw is even called "trim saw". If you want a multi-tool - get yourself a leatherman.

It's a neat package. Could be useful for the folks who might use a few of those tools on an occaisional basis.

Not too sure about the batteries:
                  Voltage:18V
                  Batteries: 15 x 1.2v 1.5Ah Ni-Cd
                  Charging time: 1 Hour
                  Weight: 2.2 lbs (0.95 kg)

I picked up a cordless circular saw to work with my dewalt 18v nicads. Don't get a whole lot of cutting time with it.

IIRC, the spec said cutting depth was 1 5/8", so it can cut a 2x. Whether it has the moxie to do more than one or two is a different story, though.

Seems to me this thing was brought up a while back (maybe 6-8 months ago) and the consensus was it would be ok for someone that lives in an apartment without much space and only occasional light usage.
