Rockler laser guide for Miter Saw

Anyone have any experience with the Infiniter Laser Cutting Guide for Miter/ Chopsaw/Circular Saw they're currently selling on Rockler. How's the accuracy, dependability and visibility. Ease of installation? Thanks

I have a laser guide based basically on the same mechanisms altho not that specific brand (the patent no. is the same). I got mine when sears first introduced their laser- miter saw; I had to go to the Sears parts store and order the parts as replacements to attach to my older miter saw.

Basically the design works well. I don 't have any real complaints.
It projects a fairly sharp line but there is some width. In less well-lit areas the line appears brighter and it may be harder to even see the marked cutting line as the laser light spills over.
Also as you start the saw the laser light may go through clear blade guards and hit your eyes as you first lower the cutting arm (or, as you finish, if your saw does not have a blade brake).

I find mine cuts exactly right of the right edge of the projected line, which makes sense since the blade shadows the line. Its most useful for angles cuts and irregular items and items where the cutr mark does not extend all the way across the piece. Otherwise simply not starting the motor and laying the blade onto the workpiece pretty much shows me exactly where i'm going to be cutting, esp. of flat pieces where i've marked the entire cut line.

Still, its worthwhile. Esp. for that price.

Unless they have started to make those style of lasers adjustable don't waste your money, they don't work. The laser line will be approximately 1/16 - 1/32 to the left of the actual cut line.

The new generation laser devices are a lot better than the originals.

I bought one for my miter saw 6 years ago for $48! It provided an accurate representation of the cut line but was a bit fuzzy.

My new Rockler version has a much 'crisper' and narrower line. At $12.49 I think it's a steal.
You might think I haven't contributed much to the world, but a large number
of the warning labels on tools can be traced back to things I've done...

I gave some thought about one of those. Only real problem I found was that the saw has to be running..I'd rather not have to make small adjustments with a spinning blade in front of me. They do have other guides that work on their own, more expensive but I feel more useable.

Both of my Ryobi Miter saws came with the lasers and it is dead on, however one laser went bad and I replaced it with a laser kit for Ridgid and it is dead on also. I found the Ridgid is a newer design and it sure is a lot brighter.
