    What About This Lathe?

LOML has seen one at HD and is considering it as an early birthday gift. Should I give her the go ahead? I could be turning by Friday.

It is not a bad little unit. The belts are easier to access to change speeds than the Jet non-VS, but you're still gonna wish you had sucked it up and got a VS unit. The indexing feature on the Jet is also nice, whereas the Delta doesn't have one, but most turners won't need that feature.

I cannot remember if the spindles on the Delta are Morse #1 or #2. If they are #1, you might consider a different unit, as Morse #2 tooling you may buy down the road most likely would be migratable if you upgrade to a bigger or more featured lathe, but #1 tooling will most likely not be compatible.

I am also pretty sure that the model you show is discontinued. This may not really be a concern to you, though.

        What is the model #?
You don't need a parachute to skydive, you only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Mine is the LA200 -- it looks like the same one to me. I got it a while back for $120 when Amazon was blowing them out.

Thanks guys. I realize that Delta has discontinued this model but that doesn't really bother me( I bought one of the last BT3100's) . As long as I won't be finding myself longing for a better lathe with in the first year or so.
