PC 333 Kaput Again - Different Brand???

Just lost this d*** sander for the 2nd time. The first one burned out and this one just threw the velcro pad. I'm through with PC. Not so long ago one of the wood magazines had a orbital sander review. Anyone remember that and which ones got the best marks? Your inputs appreciated soon. I may head down to HD.

I think one of them had the Ridgid as the best buy. I have one and like it better than the PC. I find the variable speed very handy.

Thanks everyone, I will decide between the Ridgid and the Bosch 1295 or 20vs, both of which get good reviews.

I also have the 390 router but think that is a really good tool

I had the same PC and it crapped out on me after not a lot of use. I'm currently using a POS B&D that I got on clearance for dirt cheap but that is on it's last legs--after only two projects. I'm not hard on sanders at all.

I have the Hitachi coming from the CMS rebate, but that gets bad reviews, so I'll probably sell it and put those funds toward a new one, so I'll watch for your review on whatever you end up with.

Just read an article in one of the mags not too long ago that liked the Milwaukee VS. Said it was the best value for the price.

My Bosch 1295 does alright, hooks up to my shop vac. If you are in the $$$ Festool takes the cake though....

Something to remember, clean them out when done and often when working. I blow it out with an air hose or when it's hooked to the vac I'll make sure to vacuum out around the motor. Moving parts and fine gritty stuff seem to have a love hate relationship with each other.

If your going to hook it up to a vac be sure to check that your vac can connect firmly, and not fall off. I lucked out with the Ridgid, the hose from my little vac fits perfectly with only a wrap of masking tape. The PC never did connect well and was a pain to use with the vac. As to their own little dust collectors, well, the vac gets almost all the sanding dust, not just some.

I've had a 333 for about 9 years and still going strong. I have the Bosch and hate the adapter required to hook up a dust hose as I end up just duct taping it. I have a Ridgid 6" which was made by Metabo in Germany at the time and it's fantastic.

If I could sell the Bosch which I would in a heart-beat because of the dust hook-up.. I would replace with either the Milwaukee.. Ridgid or the Makita. I actually load all three ROS's with different grits and just move through them all without having to move and individual piece from the work-bench from start grit to finish.

I just did some looking comparing the Ridgid 2600 to the newer Milwaukee 6021-21. Both look the same from the venting.. couldn't tell about the switch placement.. both have the same speeds. And last and certainly most important in my case.. both have the dust adapter on-board just as my Ridgid 6" that allows hook-up directly to either a 1 1/2" or 2 1/2" dust line. Milwaukee is now having tools done off-shore. I betcha there's a chance that..... ?

That buitl-on adapter is is the most important feature IMO as it actually works and does it without a roll to duct-tape to assist. There is nothing more irratating to me than to be in the middle of sanding and the dust line drops to the floor.

Anybody want a Bosch in excellent condition.. PM me as I will sell mine for $37 which would include shipping and the additional $6 dust adapter. I don't need any tools but.. that adapter is a valuable to me up-grade IMO.

Same here- happy with mine so far. (The Ridgid that is)
