    storing framing nailer

Since the framing nailer is probably the least used tool in my arsenal and relies on oil to maintain inner seals and o-rings, I was wondering if there is anything one should do to help seals stay oiled when storing for an extended period of time. Other than just blowing a few nails into a 2x4 once in awhile just (for fun) to justify a new dose of oil. (wondering to myself how many of you will suggest I just "store" it at your house.

you are fine. If you really want to be careful the cap the air fitting or put the gun in a plastic bag.

Tom I hope that's the right thing to do, because it's what I did. So far each time I go to use it I just add a few drops of oil and it's worked fine. At the rate I use it in 10 or 15 years I should know for sure.

After I use my air nailers I put a few drops of oil in it, fire a few nails and then cap the air inlet with a vacum hose cap that you can get at any auto store

Just add a few drops of a light weight oil such as 3 in 1, put a cap over the inlet air fitting and you should be good to go for a long time.

I lost a real nice Hitachi roofing nailer when it burned up in a fire at my youngest son's house. I didn't feel as bad as he did though. He lost everything.

I just put a few drops of oil in and cap the inlet. Never had had a problem with any of my nailers. I do keep them in the cases they came with, or a satchel type bag.
