      Jig or template?

I have the pins & tails template set, large and small, with the associated router bits and bushing. Makes VERY nice, tight dovetails, BUT I had some trouble with blowout when I first started using it. Go slow, just kiss the work piece a couple of times with the bit before diving in and its off to the races...

Can't imagine a better setup for the money...

Yep, I still want a big unijig though...

Yeah, the Pins & Tails templates work great. But mind you, they are TEMPLATES, not a jig per se... In my mind, a jig is something out of the box ready to use... The Pins & Tails you have to build your mounting block, attach the template, and do the adjustments before it is really useful. But once it is dialed it, it works well for what it is... There are no variable dovetails with this, just straight, regular, clean dovetails...

I have used a friends Craftsman jig, I like the MLCS much better.... And the price is pretty reasonable...

I can see me wanting to eventually get an Omnijig, but that is going to be a lot of projects further down the road. For now, I am very content with this...
