    Workbench

I was at My local Lowe's and was buying some sheetrock. I passed thru the material and

saw some doors on clearance. I looked and found an Oak veneered 3'0' x 6'8" heavy door.

The question is can I cut this down in either direction to get it to fit in the area that I can

put it in. It had been marked down to $15.00 so I had to buy it on the chance. Thanks,

    Bill

Well you can cut down any door, except steel. Is it hollow core or solid wood? If hollow core then if you cut too much off the ends you'd have to mill a new filler for the end.

I'd say you could cut it down then but if it is a veneer it might be steel. You could cut one of those down too, it would just be harder.

My guess is that it's a solid core door that's made from particleboard with a wood veneer skin. I have several of them that were ordered for a remodel job and turned out to be the wrong size. They will either become workbench tops or shop counter tops. The suckers are very heavy and very flat.

Thanks, I thought it was probably like that. Bill.
