Ryobi 18v Batteries

I went to HD yesterday to get a new battery as My others woul not charge up. When I

got home, I put the new one on the charger. I got the manual that came with the new

battery and started reading. I found out that if the yellow and green lights come on that

it means that the battery is hot or seriously undercharged. It said to let the battery cool

and insert into charger for 30 minutes or more, the red light might come on and then will

charge. I did and 3 batteries charged up, the last one I forgot about it and this morning it

had turned green too. Bill

Always good to read the manual. Glad it solved your problem. Did not charging happen with all of your older batteries, or just the one?

Instead of leaving batteries 'on charge', I hook up a cheap timer, set it to turn off ine 4 or 5 hours, manually flip it on (without the 'on' tab), and forget it. Since I remove the 'on' tabs, it doesn't turn back on and I don't over-charge the batteries.

OK...*That's* a pretty cool idea! Gotta try that!

As a point of safety, someone I know on another forum had a battery heat up and he never noticed it until he came in and found the charger base half melted. The timer is a great idea.
