Building a Mobil Base for Band Saw and CMS

I am finishing up a Mobile Base I have built from 3/4" plywood and strengthed with 1 1/2 x 3/16 steel angle. The base is 27" deep and 47" wide. I used steel angle for support so I could keep the height very low. The casters are 2'' x 80lb rating and are pocketed. The pockets are made from unplanned poplar (1" thick) used for a height spacer (1 3/8'') and is held with glue and screws to the plywood base and plywood caster mounting plates. I won't be moving this very often but I like to keep most things mobile for when I need or want to reposition them. After I finish painting this I have some metal cabinets that will fit over the caster pockets. The primer is slowly drying in my garage at 52 degree F.

you've probably thought this thru carefully but the guys at the castor specialty place where i bought my last castors told me its a really bad idea to use more than four...

As Lchien mentioned or alluded to, you may get pivoting on uneven surfaces. When it dries give it a roll around the shop, loaded with some weight and see if that occurs. If you are concerned with sagging in the center, put an angle down the middle instead.

One thing I didn't see on the platform was anything like locking casters or retractable feet to stabilize the base for use during a cutting operation. I don't think you want your BS or CMS to move around on you during a cut. Do you have something planned for that?
