    Another One Bites The Dust.............

I see on another forum that Bosch has purchased Freud. See story.

I'm thinkin that one of the main reasons for this purchase was that Bosch just had to have the rights to the most excellent Freud FJ-85 Jigsaw. Where are you Silverfox?

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

I hope they don't start cutting out different products left and right. This seems to happen all the time with acquisitions where there is a lot product overlap between the companies. A Freud 2 1/4HP router and the micro adjustable router fence were high on my list of wanna have gear.

My understanding is that Bosch only bought the bits and blades, not the power tools.

Bosch Power Tools acquires parts of the Freud Group
Bosch further expands its business with power tool accessories
        · In the accessories business, Freud generated sales of 100 million euros in 2007 · Planned acquisition of the four Freud Group manufacturing sites in Italy, as well as of sales companies in North America, China, Italy, and the UK
        · Freud power tool accessories business is an excellent regional and technological addition to Bosch portfolio
        · Pozzo family will continue to be involved in the business following Bosch acquisition
Stuttgart – Bosch is to acquire the power tool accessories business of the Freud Group, headquartered in Milan, Italy.
With this acquisition, Bosch is adding to its existing range of power tool accessories, especially high performance circular-saw blades and router bits. The acquisition is subject to approval by the authorities. The companies have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

maybe wrong, but this was the best info I found on short notice.
