Happiness is sort of like wetting your pants....everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.

I agree with Larry on the Delta he has, and the reasons behind it. I somewhat wish I could swap tables out as I do automotive work as well, including tapping holes in steel and aluminum for things like light tabs on tube bumpers for jeeps and such...
My add on woodworking table is great, but quill travel on mine is a little wanting, I expected that going in... I have plenty of torque for cutting thick steel though...Please like and subscribe to my YouTube channel. Please check out and subscribe to my Workshop Blog.Comment

Interesting -- on the link you provide, it clearly shows 3/4 HP in the "Specifications" tab, but in the description higher up on the page, it shows 1/2 HP.No, I'm saying the Delta model # you gave me has a 3/4 HP motor, not a 1/2HP. Delta Product Page for the 17-950L
Click on Specifications, and read down. It's a 3/4 HP DP...
You might want to call Delta and find out for sure. Their web site lists teh 17-950L as having a 3/4HP motor, but the online retailers I can find that list power, list it as 3/4HP, but they also all point to the Amazon.com reviews for this DP, I am thinking they are Amazon affiliates using an Amazon typo...Comment

Call Delta and verify. Everywhere else I have looked it says 1/2 HP...
FYIW, LarryL has one of that same DP, and seems to like it a LOT, and if I recall correctly, the WW magazines love that DP...
Sure the Steel City with the 6" quilll travel would be great, but I am not sure you want to spend over $600.00 on a drill press...Please like and subscribe to my YouTube channel. Please check out and subscribe to my Workshop Blog.Comment
