    Table saw upgrade

I've been looking ahead a little and thinking about what I could use the most in my small workshop. Christmas will be here soon!
Anyway I think the biggest bang for the buck would be either a Makita 2704
or a Bosch 4009 table saw.I need portability and accuracy and these look like the best options.I looked at the Rigid at the orange borg but read that it has
plastic gears. and is hard to set up.

I am leaning toward the Bosch right know but was hoping someone has used both so I could get a first hand account of how each saw performs.
I think therefore I .....awwww where is that remote.

I've used the 4009 and it is tough and accurate as a jobsite saw. The saw I've used rides in a trailer and goes up and down stairs and still cuts well.

    I haven't used the makita.

Have you considered the Craftsman 21829? We all know the BT3x00 is a great little saw, and the Sears relabel of that saw is on the go cart like you want...

I can't speak about the Makita either but I do own a Bosch 4009. Great saw as a shop or jobsite saw, very accurate & powerful. I can load & unload this by myself in the bed of my truck. It rolls over jobsite obstacles with ease. I hook up a shop vac to the dust collection port on the back & saw dust is minimal. I love it.

I looked at the Craftsman online not in person. My first impression is that there are too many moving parts to keep square and true. It also appears that the adjustments would be more difficult by the layout of the parts.I am going to go by my local Sears to get a good look.

I'm a keep it simple kind of person. So it may or may not work for me.
Thank you for reminding about the Craftsman option .

No problem. If the BT / 21829 isn't for you, look at that Bosch. My neighbor across the street can't shut up about his... Pity, he'll only use it for cutting 2x4s and siding... A good circular saw and guide would have been a better option for him...

              Thanks for the info,
It is always nice to hear from those with hands on experience.

If you are thinking of the 21829, keep an eye out for sales and join the Craftsman Club. I bought my 21829 earlier this year for ~$340 + tax (Current list is $530) and just love it.

I have not used the Bosch but from the looks of it has the same kind of stand as the 21829. It also looks like the 21829 has a much greater rip capacity out of the box than the Bosch.

Last thought - when you mean "portable" do you mean being able to take it from place to place or being able to move it around in your shop? If the latter you might consider the Ridgid TS3660, which comes with a mobile base, is cheaper than the Bosch, and has very dedicated and enthusiastic following on this board.

The other place to watch is CPO Bosch. Sometimes they have good sales.

My shop is only 12x12 so I do a lot of work either outside or sometimes in my garage which is 50' away so I need the more mobile base and the small footprint for storage.I would like to have the 3660 or 3650 but they wouldnt fit my situation.I would also like to have a nice miter slot for accesories and jigs.
I know there are compromises with each saw but im trying to fill my needs as closely as possible.
