    Givers gain - Tool Gloat

For those of you that recall my recent Ark Project (see thread below) I just recived a really nice message and jesture from the folks I built it for.

    http://www.bt3central.com/showthread.php?t=40714

Everybody loved it and they asked what was on my Channukah wish list. I shared with them some items I had been wanting and they just told me they want to give me some of them so on the way to me is....

The Bosch Colt Installers Kit and a Leigh 18" DT jig.

    I cant wait

      That's karma for you.

Just curious what's the difference between the DT and D4/D3 models? Does the DT come with the VRS?

On a side note, Jon do you have a blue screen? I ask because the pic of the ark looks like it's been cropped like ones you see for retailers.

          Jussi,

The answer is sort of yes and no. I do use blue screen (chroma key) techniques but not always with a blue screen. A combination of any solid, clean, contrasting background with specific lighting and photoshop techniques produces this result. With these shots the results where not perfect (IMHO) as the subject was so big and I didnt have the time to set everything up as I would ordinarily have preferred.

As it happens I offer commercial product photography as part of my business. If you know anybody who needs good clean quality images of products for websites or brochures I would happily accept any referrals and am just as happy to hand out "finders fees" to any that result in good business for me.

From what I understand the D4 is more metal and generally more solid. the VRS is an extra option with all jigs I think.

Wow Jon, those are some great gifts. And again, beautiful work on the Ark.

Nice gifts indeed, Jon. And, really nice of you to build the ark without thought of recompense! That deserves an, "Attaboy"!

Wow! Glad you had posted because I missed your original Ark post.

First, the Ark is AMAZING! I can tell that it will become even more beautiful in the years to come. As the wood and finish age, and as it gains the character of a piece that has served its purpose for decades, it will become even more stunning.

                  The gifts are nice, too.

                  But nothing like the Ark.

Jon, your Ark was beautiful and with those gifts I am sure the recipients thought so as well.

For starters, NICE JOB on the ark!

Obviously not the Ark of the covenant since I don't see any winged cherubs on it, but still...

No matter the gifts, building something like this for any peaceful congregation is a reward in itself.

Basically for the same purpose although not quite as ornate and of course no Indiana Jones

Sure anytime. I just got notiifcation from Lee Valley that the Leigh DT jig has shipped and should be here next Thursday so I guess I will be making lots of saw dust next weekend and hopefully some nice tight dovetails in the process.
