Any good mortising attachments for DP?

Can anyone recommend a good mortising attachment for a drill press?

    Here is Tom Hintz' opinion:

It was enough to convince me to pass on the concept.

In general, none that I'm aware of. Better off with a $99 HF mortiser IMHO. The mortisers require a fair amount of leverage from their long handles, which the DP's can't provide.

No, not really. Agree with Tom Hintz.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

Have to agree but if you want to find out for yourself, I have a Delta that has never been used for $50 and shipping...

I'm convinced! I'll just have to use a router and hand chisel.

This is one thing I have never felt the need for (amazing considering any tool usually gets my jucies flowing). I dont do enough mortises to warrant it and if I did I would get a dedicated machine.

Thanks for posting Tom's review it was a great read and I just love his sign off.

"Technically, I still own a mortising attachment though it will not be found in my shop. It now resides in the forest behind my home where I threw it feigning an attempt at correcting what I perceived to be an iron deficiency in the soil. Deep down I hope the North Carolina weather will cause it a slow, rusting death. "

I thought it was particularly compelling because nearly all of his reviews are quite positive and he is happy to give high marks to Ryobi and other lesser brand names when they produce a tool that performs well.

For him to be so overwhelmingly (and humorously) down on an entire class of tools was an eye opener.

I've used a forsner bit and a chisel.

And the table build like that is still standing, so I think it worked well. But then again I trimmed the tenons precisely to fit... took like 12 hours on that.
