They seem to have been back ordered on the Hitachi M12VC for 2 months straight. Anyone know what the story is? I am hoping to catch the $59.00 price for this thing next payday...

That's exactly my situation...
I may have to bite the bullet and just grab a second KM12VC as the M12VC new is only something like $4.00 cheaper. I might as well get the second plunge base too...Please like and subscribe to my YouTube channel. Please check out and subscribe to my Workshop Blog.Comment

Want me to see if I can bust mine under warranty to make one available to you?
You could always order another combo kit and sell the plunger...prolly not quite as good a deal in the end, but should get you in the neighborhood.Happiness is sort of like wetting your pants....everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.

Eh, the second plunge base isn't a huge deal to me. From what I understand the M12VC doesn't have all the bushings that the KM12VC does. I have also never seen one with a case. So for $4.00 extra, I will likely grab a second KM12VC from Amazon, unless Reconditioned Sales gets them in inventory soon...Please like and subscribe to my YouTube channel. Just curious, why would you buy the KM12VC from Amazon when RS has them in stock for $102? As already mentioned, you could unload the extra plunge base on ebay probably getting your net investment down close to the price of the M12VC. I'm not in a big hurry so I think I'll just wait it out a bit.
I called RS to find out when the M12VC might be back in stock but couldn't reach anyone, only voicemail. I left a message so if I hear anything I'll post here.Last edited by dewi1219; 09-05-2008, 01:07 PM.Comment

Reconditioned $102.00 + $24.00 S&H from Reconditioned sales. 1 year warranty I believe...
New from Amazon $133.0 with free S&H and 5 year warranty...
If Hitachi would stand behind the recons like the do new, there wouldn't be any question...
The M12VC is just too cheap to ignore though. I figure I can have one at my door for under $90.00 if they ever get more in stock...Please like and subscribe to my YouTube channel. Please check out and subscribe to my Workshop Blog.Comment

Gotcha - I wasn't thinking about your location. S&H for me on the KM12VC was only $6 IIRC, but I'm much closer to them than you are.Comment

Yeah, and I am really digging how well my Hitachi works.
I might just have to bite the bullet and grab a second KM12VC set and deal with a second plunge base, or try to ebay that part. All I want of that is a second motor and fixed base for the router table...
I dunno. I can see an advantage, to a second plunge base. Keep the bases on 2 different router table inserts, the plunger with a router lift....
