Mobile base for band saw. Up to date info wanted.

Hey guys and gals... I was hoping you might be able to point me in a direction where I can get a good deal, on a good mobile base for my band saw. I have seen a ton of threads on these things, but I was hoping maybe someone might be able to clue me into maybe a vendor with a sale on a really nice one...

Don't see any sales out there right now, but Woodcraft has their own line of bases that are much more reasonable than the HTC bases that they (and everybody else) also carry. I like the universal kit that bolts to a piece of 3/4" ply that you provide. Sizing is totally up to you, and cost is $59 plus the plywood. My bandsaw manufacturer actually recommends this base kit for their saws.

If you are still leaning toward an HTC, I think Amazon usually has the best prices on them, and stocks several of the models in-house, which will also save you shipping costs if you are a Prime member.

Actually, that Woodcraft stand is the one I was thinking about mostly... I can take my levelers off my band saw, and bolt it to the plywood deck...

That WC universal base does go on sale every few months for $10 off. Don't know how long you are prepared to wait, though, so this may not help you.

I can wait. I need to finalize a deal with another member here on a BT and accessories, grab my roller guides, etc... I can move the TS and router table if they interfere with the band saw for a while...

Is Woodcraft the only one that sells the plywood base mobile base kits?

I have seen quite a few home made mobile bases made with half lapped 2x4s and plywood with locking swivel casters, but I wanted to do something nicer.

I was thinking about making one too, but after I invest in 4 good caters the cost isn't that much different. The base above wouldn't be as tall as a shop built base either.

My shop floor is good, especially considering its age... I am considering building my own, BUT... I am not sure about the added height of full size casters.

Another alternative is to take the angle grinder with a cutoff wheel to some L steel, take the TIG to that, plate steel the bottom, mount the casters, drill the holes and install the saw... But that is OVERKILL territory there...
