Good score Omar, I am not a haggler either, if someone asks a fair price, they should get it, given the machine is in good working order. I think you did quite well at 400$ for the bandsaw.

Omar,
I have the Lonnie Bird "Bandsaw book." It well worth getting and is very informative.
It only seems to be $13.57 on amazon right now, they even have a combination with this an Kelly Mehler's "table saw book" if you dont already have it.

We await to see the results of your first cuts, just make sure its not your fingers...Jon

I have to disagree with Jon (poolhound) about the Lonnie Bird book. I own it as well as both editions of Mark Duginski's book. I find the Bird more useful to someone shopping for a band saw than to someone who already owns one; and in any case it contains WAY too much repetition from one chapter to the next. Duginske's book, in particular the newer second edition, is IMO a far better title.
EDIT because I forgot to say ... oh yeah. Omar, you DEFINITELY suck. VERY nice score.

Larry, thats OK we each have our own opinions. I know what you mean about the Bird book but I still like it. Then I like books anyway and end up collecting nearly as many of them as I do toolsI have to disagree with Jon (poolhound) about the Lonnie Bird book. Omar - sometimes your local library has these books so you can check them out first and then buy as many as you want or not as the case may be.Jon

Two other things you can do:
1) If your library does not have a book you want to see, they will most probably be able to borrow it for you from another library that does, and send it to you without shipping cost. This interlibrary relationship is not well-publicized, but most of them belong to it. Just ask.
2) Scope out your local Barnes and Noble... I have found that some of them stock more WW books than others. You can sit down right there and read the whole thing if you want to, and then decide whether to get on Amazon and buy it...
