    Drill Press Dust Collection

Anybody have pics of a setup? I did some searching because there was a thread on this a while back but couldn't find anything on dust collection specifically for a drill press.

I'll repost the pics tonight, apparently lost in the great crash of '06.

The problem I find is that drilling with large diameter bits (e.g. forstners) the suction in on one side - its strong enough to pull stationary cuttings all the way from the other side, but not strong enough to pull cuttings flung outwards by the bit. This is using a shop vac. The solution is to use a nozzle with a bigger 4" dia. opening and a full 500+ CFM DC but that starts to get intrusive.

I don't have any pics with me but I picked up some of the 2 1/2" flex crunch hose (semi rigid) that is hooked up to my Fein and really like it.

          Rod,

That looks great! I was thinking of one of the semi-rigid hoses but I think you gave me a good little project for some scrap plywood. It looks like you use 19mm but I have 11mm but I think it should work OK.

If you have a 4" DC system, use a metal dryer vent hose. You can position it anywhere for collection.
