    Which router plate for me?

I decided to get a plate instead of waiting for a lifts to go on sale again. Which model Wood Pecker plate would work for me. I have a Bench Dog CI Table PC 7518. I figure WP plates would have the best resale when I eventually transition to a lift. Good idea, or should I consider other plates. The router's pretty heavy so the plate would have to be pretty strong.

I have a couple of the Woodpecker phenolic plates and two of the annodized aluminum. They all hold 2 1/4 and 3 1/2 HP Freud routers with no measurable sag. As long as the plate fits your table opening, either of those are good.

An aluminum plate from Woodpeckers would be best for a router that size. One good thing about Woodpeckers plates/lifts is that they're all the same size (unless something has changed recently).

But, to my knowledge, Benchdog uses two sizes, and neither matches up to Woodpeckers plate size.

I would like to be wrong, but verify before you spend the $$$.

that's what i was thinking when i first saw the post but wasn't sure...

I do know there's a lot of plate sizes out there, all different, some makers offering two sizes for large and small routers, but in general, none of them interchange with other makers; No standardization exists[ps-it appears a small group has standardized on the woodpecker size-see list below]. You have to use a table custom cut for that plate or use a table from the maker of the plate. Even if the L&W are correct, they may have used a different corner radius. And, watch the thickness, too.

Most likely if you already have a Bench Dog table, you will have to use a Bench Dog plate.

          P.S. a little research
          Woodpecker std size is 9.25 x 11.75 x 3/8"
          Benchdog std size is 8.25 x 11.75 x 3/8"
          Rockler 8x11.25 x 1/4 and 9x13x1/4
Rosseau 9x12x1/4 (3/8 thick but rabetted to 1/4 on the edge)
Pinnacle, Jessem, Woodhaven all same as Woodpecker, claimed to fit.
None specifies the corner radius, but the benchdog looks to be a smaller radius than the woodpecker just my eyeballing of the pictures.

You're right benchdog uses a different size than most other companies but I have seen a few of their lifts that will fit the BD table. I was hoping they may make a plate for that size as well.

Anyone have any experience with BD plates. I know their lift gets high acclaim. I was hoping to get a WP cuz I hear they have the best resale value.
