I don't have a Ryobi, but my battery router is basically useless, just not enough torque or speed for clean cuts.

Here is a review of some Ryobi One Plus tools - the router is toward the bottom of the page. They are not impressed, although they say it is okay for light work. It might improve with a lithium battery though maybe not enough depending on what you are using it for.

        Jon,
I have the Ryobi One+ router, among other One+ tools. For what I bought it for, and probably what it was intended for, it is great. It isn't intended to be a full-on router. I use it to trim hardwood edging on plywood and stuff like that, and it is fine; other that being REALLY loud. Anyone who buys Ryobi tools and expects them to keep up with a Bosch or a DeWalt is setting themselves up for a disappointment! If you want to do full-on routing with a cordless, try a Bosch Colt or one of the other high $ name brands and then you will probably still be disappointed when the battery runs down half way throuh a job that you should be plugged into the wall for! IMHO, beyond Drill Drivers and Impact drivers, cordless comes up a little short frequently.
        My 2 cents worth.

I have 2 main routers and did have the dewalt trimmer until recently. I was mainly looking at this ryobi for the advantage of no trailing cable mostly for what it is intended i.e. edge trimming and round overs.

I was considering taking adavntage of the current HD offer and essentially getting it for free.

            .
I have it and use it for exactly what your looking to do with it and it works like a charm.

Most recent experience: I had assembled a draw box for a vanity I built and thought rounding over the sides would give it a little class. This was outside in the driveway and if I had to go get my Dawalt out of its case and grab an extension cord I never would have done it. I grabbed the Ryobi and, with a reasonably fresh battery, slapped in a 1/4" shank roundover bit and I was done in under a minute. No muss no fuss. Highley recommended... especially if you can get it for free.

Also, like all trimmers the base is kinda small. You can get the woodworking subbase for I think $9.00. The part number is in the manuall under accessories. It's a larger diameter base with the two upright handles.

Yes, I have it too and it works very well. Let's remember: it's a TRIM router.
I love hearing people say "you can't do dados with it", YA THINK!
Anyway, I've been using mine for several years. Works even better with the lithium batteries.

If its free it might just be worth it!

I think that deal is dead - it ended the 18th - unless there is another one I don't know of, and if so, I would like to be enlightened!
