    Delta JT360 & Dust collection

Anyone has the jointer hooked up to DC? How good does it work? The dust chute on the jointer seem to be poorly design.

I don't have that machine but dust chutes can be a pain on just about any machine without dust collection. I attempted to do a quick job with my Yorkie just once without bothering to hook up the DC. It only took about 5 seconds to get clogged up. The reviews on Amazon generally read well for the Delta once it's hooked up to DC.

I have that jointer and I agree, the dust chute is pretty poor. I have a 4"-2" reducer on mine, then hose to my chip separator, powered by a ShopVac. I also taped all the edges of the dust collector with gaffer tape (duct tape's showbiz cousin), which made a huge difference. I can watch the shavings leave the jointer and end up in the chip separator.

I'll redo it with 4" pipe once I get a real DC.

Its not the greatest. I confess that I presently use my Shop vac. 2.5" hose and an adapter to collect from the jointer. Because I just don't have it conveniently located.
I have NOT had any kind of jam. But the jointer has a chute down to the dust port and chips can be seen leaking everywhere along there. I haven't tried to duct-tape anything, and I've been wondeing if more suction from the DC will keep the chips from leaking.
