    toggle clamps?

In the process of building a table saw taper jig and from what I have seen they use toggle clamps. From searches there are a hundred different types, horizontal / vertical, different sizes, etc. Can someone point me in the right direction on what one would use for a taper sled.

Check out McMaster-Carr. Search for "toggle clamp" o0n the main page. You should find what you are looking for on pages 2537 and 2538. I bought some locally but had to change the spindle to a longer one.

    Woodcraft also carries them.

I would go with the low silhouette style where the locking action is with the handle in the down position.

Rockler has a smaller selection than a general hardware supplier like McMaster Carr which in this case can be helpful since are more limited to popular woodworking sizes.

Toggle clamps come in many styles allowing direction and clamping action. For a hold down application like yours, you want a style like either of these
        http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?O...Select=Details
        http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?p...&filter=toggle
which will push down at the front when you lower the toggle lever at the back and mounts flush to the surface with four screws.

The difference is their size and force. The top one is rated for 150 lbs and the bottom one 500 lbs. 150 lbs should be quite enough for your application.

And its on sale right now.
