    HF Hose Reels

Does anyone have either of the reels pictured? If so, what do you think about it?

I don't have either but the PVC hose on both of them will unroll and act like a corkscrew, never laying flat, especially when cold. the top picture is already showing that it won't lay limp. make sure you buy one with a rubber or polyurethane hose.

My father has one like the one at top. It works well and has a large enough radius to not cause hose memory. I have used one like the bottom pictured one and thought that as you unwound more hose, the radius was too small and most hose did not like being wound that tight. Also, the hose coming outside of the reel to attach was a PITA. ymmv

I have the lower one, and it is a finger-pinching PITA. I took it down and hung one of these from the ceiling instead. Big improvement. Got it on sale for about $35 with coupon.

i have the 2nd one and love it. i have it hung just above the compressor against the wall. it has 140' of rubber hose on it. its been up since februray this year. pulls fine and rolls up fine aswell. i only loose air when i am pulling the hose off. the air losses is at the universal joint. i just hear a hissing sound when i am pulling it on a horizontal angle. not when i am standing right in front and pulling. on the hose. once i have what i need, no air leaks.

this is about the only thing that i am happy with from HF!

when i get home, i will try to post a picture of the setup.

I have the bottom one. Bought without hose for about $9. I bolted it to a simple base so it is portable. Works fine.

Thanks for the replies. I really wanted one that would accept 100' of hose, but didn't know if these were worth trying. I was mainly concerned with the bottom one because it looks like it might be a little hard to get the hose to wind properly on the spool. They have that one on sale now for $9.00 without hose, but I have rubber hose. I guess I can't lose too much if I don't like it. Thanks again. This is a great place to get input from others.

I have the second one and it works great. No issues. I have 50' of their cheap house-brand hose on it, had it for about six years. I just bought one of the auto-retracting reels they have on sale for $40 and it works great also, very sturdy. It includes 25' of hose.

I also have the lower one and I think you'll like it, once you get past the assembly. It seems like there were a lot of parts and fasteners (it's been a couple years since I bought it).

                          I have this one: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...temnumber=5230

Works pretty well as long as you don't pull it too far out at the end (I marked it with tape and solved my problem).

My neighbors envy me and use it for filling up all their tires on the neighborhood bikes.

thanks! this is my first compressor and sure had lots of problems getting it home, getting it out of the van and then getting the 220 wiring done was another story. it works real good.
