Remove Safety from HF 23-g Pinner?

I sit here and read all the comments about people telling you not to defeat the safety and wonder how many of those people still have the blade guard on their table saw?

I had a pinner that I used on only soft, easily damaged woods that had a toothpick jammed in the safety. Never had an incident, but also all my friends know how to use and respect tools. YMMV and I am in no way endorsing what you wish to do. But it would not bother me to do it for my own personal use also.

With the BT and the Sharkguard, I believe you would be suprised at the number of people who use a guard with theirs. It may not be the factory, but better (like having a bump safety that left no dent).

I have 2 pinners an Air locker with a nose safety and a Bostitch with a trigger one. I do not like the foot style on a pinner but I would not remove it, that is why I bought the Bostitch. It gets in the way, can leave marks and the pin is not a 2 1/2" 15ga. nail so it is not the same danger. I would not want a trigger safety on a larger gun.
The injury story above is typical with bump fire frame nailers because if the recoil causes the gun to jump and you are holding the trigger down and then contact the nose it will fire .It has happened to me ,the double fire and I hate it, but never was hurt by it. I do not like any bump fire frame nailers, contractors love to fire them like machine guns thru roof OSB everywhere, my house has more nails outside their supports than in. I replaced the trigger on my Hitachi NR90ac2 with a sequential fire, all new nailer have to be selectable or include both triggers. Lightweight frame nailers seem to more prone to the double fire due to the decreased resistance to recoiling.

No, I wouldn't suggest doing that....not a good idea. If something were to happen to you or another person in the shop that used that modified tool,
the lawyers would not stop trying to sue you in court for years to come!
Safety devices are there for a reason, most are an inconvenience for sure,
but without them....I hate to think what type of accidents can and will
happen to the casual user!

Most nailers/pinners/staplers without safety devices are not much different
than a loaded handgun in the wrong hands, need I say more?
