Router speed controler and variable speed router

Couldn't think of a better title.
Any issues with using a router speed controler in JUST the HIGH SPEED mode for an on/off switch with a variable speed router?
I know or at least have heard that you can't use the variable speed on the controler with a variable speed router but I'm trying to figure out if I really need to buy another external on/off switch for the table now that I have the big Triton installed. Thanks Pat

Pat, I just used a standard light switch with a plug in for the cord on my table. Seems to me that the cost of the speed controller wouldn't warrant its use for that purpose alone.

I don't think I would do that. you don't know what the router speed control is doing at any given moment with regards to controlloing the power, in the full speed position it does not just bypass the speed controller circuit!
