    Need A Small Sawblade

I've been searching for a small wood cutting circular saw blade in a trim saw size or smaller. Something under 3" or 4" with a arbor hole that I can mount on a mandrel and put into an electric drill. My searches didn't come up with a small blade with a standard hole to fit a mandrel.

Why you ask? The application is a wood sill that I have to cut very close to the bottom of a window. No room for a router, sawzall, or jig saw.

Maybe something for a Dremel tool, but would have to be large enough to cut through 3/4".

I would rather find a local supplier, as I needed it yesterday. I have HD, Lowes, Ace, and Sears.

    TIA

I've seen small saw blades at Lowes. I think Makita used to make a small cordless trim saw that might take a 3 or 4 inch blade. Most of the newer small cordless circular saws use blades with a 5-3/8 diameter if I remember correctly.

May I suggest renting a toekick saw? They are pretty small and use a 3 to 4 inch blade. Cuts 3/4 " hardwood easy peasy.

Check with your local Tenyru dealer. They are King of portable saw...saw blades.

I was going to suggest a toe-kick blade myself, but since someone already has, I'll just second the motion.

I thought about a TK/jamb saw, but it won't let me get right up to the window frame. I need a small blade with a hole size that will match up to a mandrel, that I can chuck in a drill.

cabinetman, not sure what exactly you're needing to do but you mentioned window frame. Have you ever used the FEIN Multimaster?

There are micro-sized round saw blades and mandrels made for the Dremel. Too small?

                Something like this.

a "slitting saw" might be what you are looking for

the Fein Multimaster does work really well for stuff like that also.

You might want to check a hobby store for Dremel attachments.

Hi CMan. Roto Zip (Bosch) makes a small (Guessing at size) 2 1/2" - 3" blade that is used with the angle head. I have seen them at HD and Lowes. If there is room for a drill would a Roto Zip with a bit work?

CM, I guess I am having a hard time picturing what you need but since I have no suggestion on a small blade, I'll throw in another tool suggestion...how about a biscuit cutter? I know it probably wouldn't cut to 3/4", but I figured I would throw it in anyway.

H.F. has small cut off saws, like mini cut off saws. The blades are in the 3in size with small arbor holes. Might be worth a look.

I'll try to explain the problem. I have a window that the front of it is set back 1" from the face of a block wall. There is a 3/4" wood sill under the window. The bottom of the window flange is about 1/8" above the sill, and the sill protrudes about 1" ahead of the block wall.

I want to cut off the sill as close to the window as possible. There may be only 1/8" - 1/4" gap under the sill, so tools with straight blades, like hand saws, jig saws, sawzall, etc, won't work. I need a small circular, thin kerf blade that I can put in a drill and guide it along the sill, right in front of the window and get close to the sides of the block wall. What the saw blade doesn't cut I'll chisel the rest. I'm thinking using an electric drill would permit setting the saw blade parallel to the window, and cutting through the 3/4" sill.

Here is a picture of the type of window setup, but it's the far set of windows. The windows in the foreground, have since been bricked below the sill.
