    Tite-bond Expiration Code

I forget how to de-code the Tite-bond glue expiration code. I know it has to do with the first two or three numbers.. example 6M5. I can't remember if the first number is the year and the second is month following the alpha-bet with the letter I excluded as Tite-bond felt it could be confused with the number 1.

Any help would be appreciated. I thought I read a thread here recently concerning the code... but was unable to find it on a search. Then again... my computer knowledge is well.. (remembering this is a family site)... lacking to say the least.

Oddly enough Loring, I did a search at my wifes suggestion for two months under Tite-bond Glue Expiration Code and kept getting 0 reply. I suppose with in-frequent use of the tools necessary, I probably omitted a key element. In essence, "I" ended up digging a hole.

I have seen people with a 1/64" ridge on a glue-line end up digging themselves a deep hole with a ROS sander or sanding block trying to get it out. A literal hole in the case I speak of.

I had two glue-lines last night done with flat-sawn oak that had the slightest bow from tension release. Even with a caul.. the approximate 1/64" ridge line was present once dry. I picked up my card scraper and de-burred the old edge. Then without a jig, burnished a new 5 degree edge on both sides. That took about two minutes.

Another 30 seconds latter.. a light pull skewed right and another skewed left removed any remnant of glue and the ridge on both panels. The FBI would find no evidence a glue line ever existed.

All of us probably have a "touch". It is just not always necessarily the same one as the lady or gentleman next to you! It's good to have a "touch" at something.. me thinks.

          Regards for "your" touch...

The most elementary rules of searching are:
if you get zero or too few results, try searching using fewer and more general words also different combinations of synonyms.
if you get too many results, try using more explicit words.
Also it helps to know if the search engine looks for exact "all words must be present" (which is the VBulletin search mode) or "some words must be present"
Try looking for parts of phrases more unusual than common

in this case, "Tite-bond glue expiration code" was too tight. its not what you omitted, but having too much.
I try to think of the bare basics so "Glue expiration" was that and shorter.
tite-bond and glue are somewhat synonymous with glue being more general.
in "expiration code", code is common but expiration is more unusual.
Remember that VBulletin must have all key words present for a match.

            Hope that helps next time.

Thanks for the tips, Loring. I have come a long way considering the limited amount of time I use these things but.... I have a long way to go to reach the level of efficiency with them.
