riser blocks

Just curious. Would two riser blocks be possible? Anybody done this yet? Blades can be custom ordered so that's not an issue. Looks like you could almost triple the stock resaw capacity by doing that.

It's probably possible, but unless you're going to beef up the motor power, you probably won't be able to get the blade to move cleanly through all that wood. You'll also need to build a custom blade guide/guard for those times when you want to cut thinner stock.

It'll all fit together but you probably will have power issues when cutting 18" thick wood and also yuou won't be able to have properly functioning and adjusting blade guards and guide block adjustments.

12" of resaw capacity is a BUNCH of capacity! 18" would be ginoromous.

What do you have in mind? It sounds like you've got some major milling to do.

Also consider that the frame is now much more susceptible to flex with the additional joint of the 2nd riser. You will need to find a long enough hardened bolt and be able to torque it down properly to keep that joint from flexing.
You should be able to make the blade guard longer with a proper metal bar and some sheet metal folding.
Another issue is that you'd put the hand crank an additional 12+" off the floor than it was, so it will be that much harder to reach and turn.
