Task Force 6" Bench Grinder: good or sux?

I was in Lowes checking out their clearance items. They had a Task Force 6" Bench Grinder #BG1500VW on clearance for $15. It's a 2.5-amp with 3,450 RPM. It doesn't say what the HP is. I know this is a Lowes cheapie brand...probably matches up the the HF model.

Are all the low end bench grinders alike or are their things to look for? I've seen them range from $40 to $200. My grinding needs are modest but I don't want to buy a piece of sh-t.

Is this a good buy for $15?
What if there is no tomorrow?....there wasn't one today!

I'd say its pretty hard to mess up a grinder for hobby use.
As you pay more for grinders you get shields, rests, and light. larger wheels 6" -> 8", then you get dual speeds/low speed then variable speeds.
Past that there's not a whole lot more functionality you can get.

I agree with Messmaker below, not much to lose at $15. Its not the cat's meow, but There's a bunch of things you just can't beat a grinder for.

What do you plan to do with a grinder? The grey wheels that are normally on low end grinders are good for axes, hoes and mower blades, in general. If you plan on sharpening turning tools or anything else that needs a fine edge you will probably be disappointed.

It has taken me a long time and $$$ to realize that going the lowest cost route usually costs more in the long run. But, we have to do what we can at the moment.

Don't worry about getting it. If it does not suit you as a grinder, you can always install a buffing wheel on one side and a wire wheel on the other. They are very handy to have. $15 is not much of a gamble.
