    Motor reversal

    I have been a motor installer for years. AC voltage is a sine wave,reversing polarity 60 times a sec. A plug in backwards cannot reverse direction. It is an internal problem.
    The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of low cost is forgotten!

        Was there possibly some mechanical device that was tripped that would effectively reverse the direction as a safety feature on such motors. Then a technician would have to 'trip it back' to get the motor to run correctly.
        Why doesn't the word 'planing' show up in my computer spell check?
