Are/have the Ridgid Flip stands been discontinued? I have been needing some lately, and had them in the budget, but can't find them.

Ridgid flip stands discontinued?
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.Tags: None -
Last time I looked the lone HD here had the usual three or four in stock. I may go there tonight; if so, I'll check again.
As an aside to those not familiar with these stands: if there's a better shop-accessory buy for thirty bucks than the Ridgid flip-top stands, I don't know what it is. These things are gems. Every shop should have at least a couple of them.LarryComment

Morning...
To follow up on Larry's comments on the stands.. flip top with a friction surface, easy to adjust stand and an extremely solid base. My company purchased 3 for me 5 years ago when they ask me to build 100' of show-room counter where they were in-dispensable in a one man operation.
I doubt they are discontinues (?), but I will pick up the fourth on the way to work this afternoon on rumor alert. ha.. ha...
One of the secrets of "how" I can rip up to 16' safely on my TS by opening the shop door. I wouldn't even attempt it with standard roller or ball bearing stands which I gave away after discovering the flip-tops.

At my local HD, they have for some unknown reason, the flip top stands under the shelves in the lumber section. I doubt if anyone in the store knows they are there. In the "tools" section they have the roller ball stands. In my opinion, the location of these items should be reversed! I have used both and the flip top works the best. I hope HD is not discontinuing this item.Comment

For the people that have them do you use them for in-feed and out-feed tables or in conjuction with a table saw mounted out-feed table ???? Also is the surface slick enough as I have some long boards to rip and I'm not real wowed by my two horizontal roller stands that I currently use front / back. It does the job but .....Comment

I mostly use mine as infeed and outfeed supports for the table saw and thickness planer, and as "extension wings" for my miter saw. The tops are a hard plastic that's pretty slippery. Despite that, you can lock the top in the horizontal position and have a pretty decent adjustable-height sawhorse.
Get a couple of these and your roller stands will gather dust, guaranteed. In addition to being wider than most roller stands, they're also harder to knock over.LarryComment

Hmmm. Offhand, I'm not finding them on either the HD or the Ridgid web site.
I can't remember exactly what they're called. Pretty sure "Flip" is in the name somehow, though.
You can see two of them at front-center of this picture:

EDIT: Here you go ... http://benchmark.20m.com/reviews/Rid...andReview.html
Name appears to be "FlipTop," all one word. In my HD, they're in the same area as the folding plastic sawhorses and such.Last edited by LarryG; 07-18-2007, 04:59 PM.LarryComment

A couple years ago when folks on BT3Central first started raving about these things I tried searching my local Borgs... none had any on display but one did have a carton of them waaay up on a shelf. The kid that dug out a couple had never seen them before but thought they looked pretty cool. Now two local stores have them on display. One has them in the cut-open carton tucked underneath the shelving with the shop vac accessories on the edge of the tool crib, the other has them proudly on display in the center of the tool crib.
And yes, they are GREAT! Extra supports, infeed/outfeed, etc. The tops are quite slick and lock in a near horizontal position. There is a little give so they actually tip slightly to make a ramp for outfeed use. Arrows on the top remind you of which way the stock should feed into the stands to take advantage of this designed-in feature. You don't have to be 100.000% precise on adjusting the height of these things to use 'em as outfeed supports. And unlike long rollers, they have zero tendancy to try to steer your stock if not perfectly lined up. I also use mine, with a couple quick spring clamps, to support my router table top at times... since I haven't gotten around to actually making a true router station.
Don't just buy one though; start with a pair at least.

That sounds like a barcode number, their SKU's are 6 digits.
Still not local, I am going to have to expand my search for them next week. I am getting ready for 7 12 hour days. She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.Comment
