    Mortise SetUp

I know there is, somewhere in the Forum, how to set-up a mortise outfit on a drill press. Can't seem to find it now, should have printed it off but didn't! Basically it was about how to set the space for the mortise chisel and the drill.
Can anyone out there point me in the right direction. Got a slew of mortices to cut and am slightly stuck. Thanks gang.

This is the way, dedicated mortiser or DP add-on accessory:

Basically, set the chisel in the holder with about 1/32nd or so space before it hits the holder, and lock in place.

Next, set the drill bit into the chuck with the bit up as far as it will go into the chisel.

Finally, loosen the chisel set screw and push thechisel all the way into the holder so it bottoms out against the holder, then align the chisel square to the direction of the mortise, and lock in place.

This procedure keeps the bit from rubbing hard against the chisel.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.
